Who was the 2018 Burger Champion?

The 2018 French Burger Cup finished on 04 Avril and the winner is... Nicolat Willaule with his Childhood !

Also on the podium was Jonathane Leroy, who came second with his Breiz'men bon. And Siva Sivathas with his Yellow Green Burger.
The awards were presented at the end of the competition with the winner receiving €2,500 and the four other champions, €500 each.

Event

The Burger has gone upmarket to become a “gourmet” dish, and has met with considerable success with the French commercial catering industry.

And what a success! In 2016, more than a billion burgers were consumed in France. France has been hit by burgermania, even overtaking the British by a short length.

With creativity, technique and the selection of the best ingredients, the Burger is a new field of culinary expression and largely deserved to have its own French Cup competition. This recipe contest, exclusively open to professionals, has been dreamt up and designed by Socopa Restauration and its aim is to be a veritable trend laboratory. Its finals will be taking place on the Sandwich & Snack Show stage.

How to compete

Invent a personal burger recipe, based on minced beef and the ingredients of your choice (breads, condiments, herbs, spices, salad vegetables, etc.). Recipes should above all aim to be original, innovative and delicious, both to the eyes and on the palate. It must be easy to make and cost less than €5.00 excl. VAT per burger.

Preselection

The judging panel, made up of 5 professionals, will establish a ranking based on criteria relating to creativity, flavour matches, the quality of presentation and how appetising the proposition looks. 5 candidates will be selected in each of 5 French régions, making 25 contestants overall.

The final

The 5 regional finals and the grand national final will be held on the 01 April 2019 at the Sandwich & Snack Show. The awards ceremony will be held straight after the competition: €2,500 for the winner, €500 for the four other regional champions.
